The Newsletter of the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (UK)
Spring is here already!
It’s hard to believe that three months have passed already since joining PWSA back in January. During that time I have met with many people, absorbing a great deal of information about the organisation and the impact of the world around us.
As a result of a comprehensive PEST (political, economic, social, technological) and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis of the internal and external world of PWSA, I have been able to produce a 3 year strategic plan for the
way ahead in meeting the needs of our members. The mission, vision, purpose, principles and objectives of the Association have been reviewed and updated, under-pinning our values which remain, to be people centred at all times, to support the right of people with PWS to be treated with dignity and respect, to promote the recognition and acceptance of the positive contribution that each and every individual with PWS has to make to society and to enhance the quality of life for all those affected by PWS.
We aspire to work with integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and clear leadership – principles which sit at the very heart of the ethical base of our Association.
We are very aware that we’re all living in an age of austerity and the likely impact this will have on the provision of health, social care, education, employment and housing for our members, which is why an Association like ours is so invaluable in protecting your rights and lobbying on behalf of a minority voice in the yelling crowd of demand.
